About

Rico Zela, born in Zurich in 1974, studied oboe at the music academies in Basel and Utrecht, as well as choir direction and church music in Lucerne. As a trained oboist and baroque oboist, he works with modern oboe, cor anglais and historical double reed instruments and also teaches oboe and fundamental musical skills.

He is musical director of Jazzcetera Zürich, the Kantorei Knonaueramt, the Singkreis Hettlingen and ManneXang. He also plays in the Bach Collegium Zürich and the 21st Century Orchestra, among others, and realises concert projects with his own orchestra La Compagna.

His work also includes arrangements, compositions and digital music projects such as Tuning Nexus, Taktstock and Tongeometrie. A detailed CV is available on request.
